Journey through Japan with dsm Destinations
Oct. 13-22, 2024

John Shors Travel and dsm magazine are partnering to offer an exclusive trip this October to Japan, with visits to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. Shors lived in Japan from 1991 to 1994 and has planned a unique itinerary that features several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as well as authentic cultural activities such as tea ceremonies, sushi-making sessions and karaoke nights, all of which offer a glimpse into local life.

Japan is a fusion of past and present. In downtown Tokyo, for example, you can admire a thousand-year-old temple and, just across the street, an 80-story skyscraper. "Visitors can have countless different cultural experiences in a very short time," Shors said. "The cultural richness is profound."

During the trip in October, participants will explore Tokyo with a stroll through Yoyogi Park, a tour of the Asakusa Temple and a visit to the Tokyo Digital Art Museum. In Kyoto, they’ll see the legendary Fushimi Inari Shrine, Tenryuji Temple and the historic Arashiyama district, as well as several hidden gems that Shors discovered when he lived there. And during the tour’s final segment, in Osaka, the group will get a chance to make sushi and sample a few of the culinary delights at Dotonbori, a mile-long stretch known for its specialty restaurants.
